On Thursday, October 26, Stephanie, Brian, and I headed out from Piney Flats (Brian came up from Florida on Wednesday). Matt and Janet left Kingsport and picked up Terry in Mendota, meeting us along our way to Penmerryl Farm in Greenville, VA.

We ate supper at a local Italian restaurant in Greenville, then spent a pleasant evening sitting poolside at the farm. While it was warm for late October, only a farm cat enjoyed the pool, bouncing on the cover.

We did a blind taste test of two whiskeys I’ve received for birthdays – Chicken Cock from Matt & Janet vs Fighting Cock from Don & Amy. The chicken won by a beak. So many jokes, here’s a PG one: If chickens wake up when the rooster crows, then when do ducks wake? At the quack of dawn!

As usual, I didn’t sleep well Thursday night, anticipating Friday’s ride. This is no reflection on Penmerryl Farm – the rooms were great!
