Getting ready to roll!

Hope everyone reading is doing well. Our motorcycle season has gotten off to a slow start. In May, the normal Tame the Dragon and a scheduled track day at Virginia International Raceway were cancelled. A couple other rides were cancelled as well but we still had great day trips on local routes with picnic lunches since most everything has been shut down.

A cooler for packed lunches means a hitch mount rack for the bike.  We managed Italy for 30 days on this style bike without a rack!

One reason we love motorcycling is that you meet people you wouldn’t normally meet and you take trips that not too many people will take.  Around many campfires, we all discuss trips we’ve taken and trips we hope to take.  Such is the case for our next trip, the 2020 Go West Tour.  This year, we’re going with 6 bikes and 8 people from Rapid City SD, to Gillette WY, Red Lodge MT, Cody WY, West Yellowstone MT, Jackson WY, Lander WY, Gillette WY and returning to Rapid City SD.

In about a week, we’ll converge from Alabama, West and East Tennessee, SW Virginia, Florida and New Jersey to Rapid City to begin our trip.  I hope to post each night , but we’ll see how internet connections cooperate.  If you’d like to follow along, the easiest way (no login needed), is to click the FOLLOW button on RollingOnTwo.  After clicking on the Follow button, a dialog box will pop up asking for the email address where new blog posts should be sent. An email will be sent to that email address to confirm, so be sure to click on the confirmation link in the email that is sent to you.

We’d love to have you follow along with the sights and maybe sounds as we’re rolling on 12! 🙂

  6. It sounds like a great adventure is in store. If this your first trip on a bike out west, get ready for some wind. We did SD in 2009. Did I-90 repeat in 2015 coming home from CCR in Idaho. Have fun, stay safe. Look forward to following!

  7. Sorry i’ve missed the last half dozen or so BMW meetings and the dinner. Seems like something else always took priority. Your tour sounds great! Will try to keep up on line. Stay safe, well & keep rubber side down!
